Asphalt Jungle

Today, I was privied to witness two separate accidents. Not just the aftermath, not just the sound, but the impacts. As I made my usual drive to school on highway 14, I saw a doe about 20 yards ahead of me begin to burst forward into the opposite lane. She had a short choppy gait as she got up to speed. She tried her best. A dumptruck hit her squarely as if she saw a target in the middle of the grill. It sounded like a guy giving a metal garbage can a good kick. She tumbled into my lane and I swerved onto the shoulder. I could see the buildup of smoke from the tires of the truck and the deer continuing to tumble. Very sad. Continuing on I later saw a guy check his blind spot changing shifting to a lane which had a sudden slowdown. Rear end collision. ich. Nasty morning.

Shrew nose and newt toes

I just thought you all would enjoy another dog tale.....

Ada has been feeling quite ill for the last two days. She would barely get up out of her doggy bed, wasn't eating or drinking and didn't want to go outside to go potty. I was getting very worried about her as we had found a plastic baggy all torn up. This indicated to me that she had probably got in the garbage and had eaten some rotten meat with a bit of plastic baggy thrown in for good measure. So I was sure that she had a blocked intestine and was going to require expensive surgery to save her life.

However this morning we found this disgusting throwup- diarehah pile out back on the concrete. But no, this wan't your ordinary tu-di pile. As I searched through it with a thin stick to find that intestine blocking plastic I was sure she ate I found something much more discusting. Between all the mats of dark grey fur I found at least 3 tails and various internal organs, such as hearts, livers and intestines, that I could accurately assume once made up a number of shrews. But that was not all, I also found a barely digested newt with its tongue extened from its mouth as if the process of being swallowed whole and being digested alive was not the most pleasant experience.

So.. needless to say, Ada is feeling much better this morning and we hope that she has learned her lesson. Ada wishes for you to pass this story on to other canines so that they will not have to go through what she had to endure.

Ada is now out of her funk and happily chewing on a bone once again.

halloween candy

I'm glad we're going to Mom and Dad's for Halloween. I've had trouble with my candy. Mainly I bought it too early and it's half gone. I'll remember that for next year. I'm glad to hear Dad bought the "good" kind. I hope that includes Reeses and Butterfingers.

New Years and hot tub kind of go together for me. Mel?? Greyson??

Christmas, Christmas time is near.... kinda

Alright, I know it is a bit early but I wanted to check on everyone's Christmas plans.

Greyson and I will probably go down to Lousiana from Dec. 23rd to 27th. I will also probably take Dec. 28th through Jan. 2nd off. Greyson obviously is on his own extended vacation during that time, so I will be the limiting factor.

So what are all of your plans for both the time I am going to be away and those dates after Christmas that I will be home. Are you doing Christmas at Mom and Dad's or what??

So let me know your schedules and whether you want to try to get together with me during that 28th-2nd time period and if so do you want to come up here or your house or what??? And Greyson, what do you think about all this??

She does exist!!

I now have positive confirmation that Jennifer has FINALLY figured out how to look at the blog. She was even going to comment but forgot her password. So when she finally gets it her act together we may someday hear from her. It has only taken 3 months for her to get to this point so I wouldn't hold your breath.

His birthday is officially Thursday Oct 14th.

Bad, bad bloggers....

Ok, so when I first started the blog I expected that my emails from my family members may go down since they would keep me updated on the blog site. However, I have seen extremely low blog participation lately and I have yet to recieve an email from you all in weeks or in some cases months.

So..... if you won't actively participate in the blog, I will expect at least a weekly email. And don't try to tell me that you are all soooooooo busy. I am sure you can find the time.

So far I am giving the best blogger award to Greyson with Traci coming in second place.
Why don't the rest of you try harder!!!

halloween

I think we should all go to Mom and Dad's on the weekend of Halloween. Maybe bob for apples, bring yummy treats, award prizes for best kid and best adult/couple costumes. We could put together a pretty cool haunted house and maybe attatch Ada to a miniature wagon and enjoy an old-fashioned hay ride. I think their are some cool recipes for cauldrons and I need samplers for my pumpkin cookies and fudge. Also a seed spitting / pumpkin carving contest might be fun.

Anyway, it beats eating all the candy in boredom, wondering when that last trick or treater will arrive.
