Home Again, Home Again, Jiggedy Jig

Post by Mom:

The Larry Sharps also stayed up until midnight for the first time in at least a decade. We spent New Years Eve at Kah-Nee-Tah complete with party hats and noisemakers with the Porters and actually stayed up for the drawing they had at 1:00 a.m. for $2006. Amazingly, we didn't win. We had a room there but the Tim & Traci had to drive home in the wee hours. We saw some snow today on our way over the pass at Mt. Hood but the roads and traffic weren't too bad.

Made it home safe and sound after making the grand circle to deliver all the items left from Christmas. Charlie got a new coat before we left and still had it on when we returned. It fits very well and is very becoming on her - the black color is slimming. I hope she and Katia didn't have too many howling sessions while we were gone.

The new refrigerator is still working. Tomorrow I'm going to fill it up with healthy food. I'm going to designate one day as snack food day and save any "bad food" for that one day. That way I can just put off my cravings and maybe not give in to them more than once a week. Our gym went out of business so thank goodness for our elliptical machine and the weights.

Happy New Year everyone!

We enjoyed the "group" or "couple" slot play with mom and dad at Kah nee tah. I won some poker hands, then got sloppy and lost about $60 in four hands. Tim did his usual to keep us at minimal damage. We played blackjack and poker for about 9 hours and it only cost about $130. We thought we got our entertainments worth.

I'm wearing Mel's old coat almost everyday. I think she should just wrap up her hand- me - downs and we'll call it good each Christmas. I'm anxiously awaiting Carmel tall boots my parents ordered for me from Eddie Bauer. Tim kept his tongue scraper and I'm displaying my set of Boardman, OR salt and pepper shakers...the potatoes.

Robin screams in pain about every three minutes...this has been going on for over 3 weeks. Finally I inquired of the head nurse when she'd get the cramps taken care of and we could get back to our visiting and reading. Robin is apparently on hospice now which is a great surprise to everyone since she is only 50 something. They can't legally tell me what happened, but I'm pretty bummed today. Robin did like her Pink Floyd CD and the aides have been cranking it up for her. I'm going to make twice daily visits. It's so hard to watch her in all this pain...she doesn't know her real condition and feels exasperated with the doctors.

Kids go back to school tomorrow! We had a Guesstures, Cranium, Halo party with a few of the kids' friends last night. The oreos, milk and meatballs went over great as horsdoeuvres.

Had a great time with everyone. Planning to go to the Deans' in two years.
