WWJD? Warning: Political preachings aplenty

If there is any way I can appeal to the people voting for bush, or not voting at all, consider this, an acronym for taking the moral higher ground: WWJD?

Of our first 50 so-called smart weaponry launched at the onset of our invasion, 0 hit the intended targets in Iraq. I have seen footage of the innocent people, babies in particular, torn apart by our salvo. The Iraqis did nothing to provoke this attack. They didn't fire one shot at us or drop one bomb on us. Innocent Iraqi's have been imprisoned and tortured as a result of our invasion. But there is insurrection, you say. Why don't the Iraqis just lay down their weapons, allow the invaders to remove their way of life, and pick up a bible. These invaders after all, have been shooting them for their own good?

To say that we hit the targets with our bombs would imply that there are enemy babies to kill.

To say that misfired Iraqi artillery is responsible for all of the civilian casualty is ludicris, and we are ignoring the very fact that the artillery fired by saddam's army is a result of our invasion.

To say that ANY innocent civilian death is "worth it" or more disturbing, "collateral damage" in achieving what's best for Iraqi citizenry is completely contrary to which this whole concept of moral and principle that Bush and the GOP so fervently cling.

We are talking about pro-life. Killing the born as opposed to the unborn. And we are talking about "turning the other cheek" had Iraq done anything to us to begin with that deserves our forgiveness. They will be the ones turning the other cheek, or not. Many Iraqis are responding to our invasion in a distinctly American and patriotic fashion. Jesus would forgive us. I hold Bush and his administration responsible for our atrocities commited against the Iraqi people. I hold myself responsible, that I didn't do more to prevent the war in spite of what my heart was telling me. Bush has hardly followed the teachings of Christ. He has proven himself immoral at the very deepest level, a moral flip-flopper. As a result I would give anyone a chance who stood against him on election day.

My goodness, I guess this is what happens when my husband can't sleep (notice the time of his posting). I just think Jesus would cringe at us allowing one of his "special" children to run our country.

No more politics for me. It will all be over tonight. If things don't go right, Greyson and I will be moving to Canada. We plan on building a nice treehouse and becoming self sufficient. Or maybe Mexico.

I liked George Sr. And yes, Jr. is kind of special, but you two are so idealistic. It's because you don't have kids yet I think. And I'm not trying to sound more mature...just more jaded and pragmatic from years of wanting the ideals and seeing people get in the way.

The war is about oil and over-puffed pride, but forgiveness has nothing to do with letting someone hurt you again and again and not doing anything to protect or change the course of action. I don't think we should be at war, but allowing such a terrorist attack without consequence is foolish. You can forgive a rapist and still not be his best friend. You might even get a restraining order.

I don't want to say much else for fear my hospitality rights may be taken away. We are bringing Lindy and she is Libertarian because it rolls off her tongue nicely.

I think at heart I'm more democratic. I believe in dreams and kindness and helping others. I also know that people cry out for help, but don't want to put the effort in to make their lives better. Change is scary. Growing up and learning patience, kindness, waiting in line...all the stuff Tucker is learning, it's hard.

In the public schools the "it's my right" and " then I'll sue," is rampant and the democratic stance tends to agree with this to extremes. The GOP is extremist too and forgets the "do unto others," and a lot of others don't think the bible means anything. It's a balance and that's what made Lincoln such a great president...not the anti-slavery because his main focus was keeping the new America together. We need to...at the risk of sounding over-sentimental...embrace our left and right differences. It's what pushes change. We have genius thought on both sides.

Rear is the biggest divider because we all are human and basically want love, freedom, respect. And we're also basically selfish, wanting our thoughts and views on life to prevail. The peacemakers, the real side-by side I think you're nuts but I've to learn to live with you, those are people I admire.

That is well-said Soggy. Idealistic and optimistic that we have options other than the destruction of those that disagree. Realistic in that we should come clean and state clearly that we invaded Iraq to maintain our high living standards, that we don't care about liberating Iraqis as the errant cruise missiles clearly demonstrated. And we obviously don't care about presence of WMD's or we would have admitted a mistake that was made. Thank God I don't have children off in Iraq. Bush wins, we have 4 more years of war. Then, who knows...The enemy was in Afghanistan however.

So the invasion in Iraq is believed by the right wing to be a move to prevent terrorism? I guess I just don't understand Iraq's connection to our defending ourselves. Did anyone ever think that Saddam resisted weapons inspections to show strength amongst his own followers. We had no right to probe even that far given what still rusts in the Umatilla depot alone. We killed innocent people, and made ourselves no better than those who attacked us unprovoked. No, we murdered people who had absolutely nothing against us, people who did not attack us. So are the ten commandments interpreted literally from the old testament by Bush's "base", or just the stuff about sodomy?

By keeping our peace instead of striking out at dubious and numerous targets, we would still have a majority of the international community behind us. I'm guessing that's what Jesus would do. That's how he gained his following. He was above violence, as were most or all of the greatest leaders of this world.
