Asphalt Jungle
Today, I was privied to witness two separate accidents. Not just the aftermath, not just the sound, but the impacts. As I made my usual drive to school on highway 14, I saw a doe about 20 yards ahead of me begin to burst forward into the opposite lane. She had a short choppy gait as she got up to speed. She tried her best. A dumptruck hit her squarely as if she saw a target in the middle of the grill. It sounded like a guy giving a metal garbage can a good kick. She tumbled into my lane and I swerved onto the shoulder. I could see the buildup of smoke from the tires of the truck and the deer continuing to tumble. Very sad. Continuing on I later saw a guy check his blind spot changing shifting to a lane which had a sudden slowdown. Rear end collision. ich. Nasty morning.
