The Plan by Mom/Grandma/Janice

Okay, here's the tentative plan. If anyone has a suggestion for changing something, I'm open to just about anything. Some people might want to swap dinner days or activity days or whatever. Of course, there can be all kinds of added activities like card playing, x-box playing, movie watching, talking pleasantly about non-violent topics, etc. My cholester is 278 so I will probably just eat celery for the next year. :-(

Thursday - December 21 - Mexican Day
Grandma has surgery - Deans and Porters arrive
Burritos for lunch
Taco Salad for dinner (how good can this be with no meet, no cheese, no sour cream & no chips?)

Friday - December 22 - Asian Day
Sumo (pillow) wrestling
Ping Pong tournament
Rice and pork casserole for lunch (I think I can have a little of this)
Chinese take out for dinner (poor me eating left over pork & rice)

Saturday - December 23 - German Day
Rudds arrive - maybe Grandma comes home
Snow play (ala the Alps)
Movie at local theater - Narnia
breakfast - pancakes and sausages (those with high cholesterol may have oatmeal & skim milk)
lunch hamburgers and hot dogs (celery time)
dinner - corned beef and cabbage (but I don't like cooked cabbage)

Sunday - December 24 - Italian Day
Grandma home for sure
Catholic Mass (pray that my choleslterol goes down)
Soccer
Art (drawing, sculpture, pictionary)
breakfast - pastries and fruit (just fruit)
lunch - pizza (looking at pizza raises cholesterol)
dinner - spaghetti (ditto)

Monday - December 25
Christmas
breakfast - French Toast & Bacon (glass of orange juice)
dinner - Ham, etc. (etc.)

Tuesday - December 26 - N. American
swimming
gym and/or bowling
breakfast -cereal & cinnamon rolls (cereal and one bite of cinnamon roll)
lunch - chicken strips (I think I can eat this if its not fried)
dinner - roast beef (vegetables, which I also don't really like)

Wednesday - whatever you can find to gnaw on
P.S. - notice there was no fish involved in these menus in honor of the departed.

I told a friend that this Christmas, as with many of my dear families get-togethers, is more like an adventure than a vacation. I'm not complaining;I'm quite adventurous and tired children are good children - does that go for the grown-up childen?

Mother should have a "rest" card and if she slightly raises it we will know to jump up and ask, "what can we do to help?" Tie up the children, do the dishes, vacuum, sweep...whatever. Then if she raises it high above her head, and its clearly not an attempt to tell us she's having a cholesterol induced heart-attack, we will know to repeat step 1 then put her in her big chair, pour her some wine, and take turns giving her foot massages. Now if she throws her card, we should all hurry and grab our coats, then proceed to the nearest park and play for a few hours and when we get hungry, we can go eat out at Subway so as not to disrupt our theme days with Pizza or Chinese food. Then we can send a scout and see if she has picked up her card. Then, and only then will the troup return.

Sound like a plan???

Grandma Faraway, the children are very worried about you. They don't want you to miss out on any of the activities. You will be able to eat regular foods when you get home I hope. If not you might want to add a smoothie maker to your Christmas list.

See you all soon.

Okay - Thursday is Wednesday, Friday is Thursday, etc. The dates are right and the days of the week are one off.

Soft food -- would that include fudge?

So I am assuming the Deans are doing the 23rd and I thought the Porters were doing the roast on the 26th which leaves the 24th and 25th. So mother, do you want me to be in charge of one of those days or do you just want me as an all-over helper?
