Trip to Texas?
I had an interesting email today from my boss about a job stint in Texas. Our company has an ongoing relationship where we provide FEMA with disaster relief efforts. Normally this is cleaning up fish kills when Nuke plants have a warm water dump and kill all the organisms in the adjacent waters (or that type of thing). However every once in awhile they ask for workers for other projects, hence Rita/Katrina work. So I am currently waiting for more info, but it looks like a 3 month stint in Texas doing something (probably processing paperwork for shelters or something like that). I have mixed feelings on this 'oppertunity'. The good things: it would be a unique experience, I may help someone, I may make good overtime. The bad things: I wouldn't be home to see the hubby and family, I wouldn't get much time of, I would miss my JujuTsu training (and I just got my Gi to wear), not much time for Thanksgiving/Christmas. So what do you all think? I would hat to miss out on something neat just because I am a big chicken.

Just admit you're afraid of how tough I'll become with all my weight lifting and so with you're running off South you won't be able to train and master you JujuTsu. I can buy you a green belt. Maybe one with rhinestones on it. I bet that's what Texan JujuTsu students wear.
You helping out with the Rita/Katrina work would impress my Tom. I like to call him Thomas, but he just rolls his eyes.
Be sure you record your voice for Ada and Miles, maybe play your guitar and sing for them, and that will help with their issues of abandonment.
With all your overtime, I'd like to be your pick with the whole Christmas exchange.
Savannah would go to Texas.
You can't be a big chicken; you haven't had produced any eggs.
I'm achy and sick and bored. Sorry. Guess I'll climb back into bed.
(The following was from an email from grandma I thought I would post since she has issues posting on the blog)
Dear Melanie, for some reason I have not learned to comment on the Blog so I am taking this way of answering your question "should I go to Texas". As you are young and healthy I would say go for it. Not being with your husband is the big drawback. That part you have to decide for yourself. It is a unique opportunity and will only come this once. What does Grayson think about it? We would all miss you but also admire you for what you are doing. Will be watching the Blog for more info.
My orchid is still blooming. It did loose the first four flowers that it had when you gave it to me but the three new blooms are doing fine. I keep watching for a new shoot but so far have seen nothing. It did get a new leaf and I thought that impressive. I bought an amaryllis to set beside it so it wouldn't be lonesome.
Today I go to swim aerobics so I best we getting busy. Love, Grandma Far Away
Oh my - this is a tough one. What does Greyson think? Will they fly you home within the 3 months ever or do you have to do the whole stint without any conjugal visits?
Would you have to leave before next weekend?
Mom
I would miss her terribly, but I also think it is an incredible opportunity, and had I already not registered and paid for school I would love to go with her. To raise any concern on my own selfish behalf would be bad karma.
Meldog,
This is indeed a tough decision. These type of opportunities don't come around very often but in this case there is another person directly affected by this decision. I wish you and Greyson the best of luck in making a decision as difficult as this one.
