Truck Noise

Our Tacoma has started making loud noises as tho it has a hole in the muffler; had it put up at Les Schwab's, but no hole found so today I crawled underneath and examined the entire exhaust system with a flashlight and by hands as far as I could see and reach, but no hole. The noise usually happens or is noticed when I brake at a stoplight or stop sign. Finally, Jan has noticed it, but not in all it's loudness; kind of sounds like a large truck is idling right next to my truck(or ear). Any suggestions as to cause?

No suggetions from me.

We are having car trouble of our own. I came out to leave last Friday and found my rear window completely spiderwebbed. I opened my backdoor to see if I could find whatever broke it and upon closing the door the entire window fell into a million pieces in my backseat. Ada thinks it is like a sunroof and doesn't think I should replace it.

Greyson's car doesn't open from the driver's side and I think my brakes need to be replaced.

I think cars have a poverty sensor. More advanced vehicles like the Lexus can detect eventual poverty. That way, instead of buying, say, new fitness equipment, we will in the future make more responsible decisions to spend money on preventing future meaningless expenditures on cars.

Bikes are both good for fitness and the saving of the environment. That's what I've told Tim since we're going this year with no car payments, so if the Subaru catches the bad vibes from your vehicles he'll be a two wheelin' it to school. (The roads are nice and flat in Prineville.)

As for the Muffler...Duct Tape around the entire muffler may work. It is a versatile tape - restraining mouths of children, last minute hemming, lint/cat hair remover etc.

I think tim needs one of those noisy little scooters. Roll up in style.

Check also where the exhaust manifold attaches to the engine. Haven't heard of the duct tape solution. Make sure you get the heat resistant kind. Gould makes a duct tape that can't be used with ducts because of temp issues. Grab the muffler and shake it, see if it's rattling against the chassis somewhere. I've had that issue. My other suggestion might be to take it to a mechanic.
